Cristalino Jungle Lodge begun before eco-tourism or sustainability were even vague concepts and is showing how you can protect the rainforest, green the triple bottom line, and run a successful business all while staying at a beautiful lodge in the Amazon. Guests are not roughing it in this Eco Lodge and can feel like they’re part of the Cristalino family. All guides have an interesting story to tell as they point out butterflies, birds, and even jaguars to guests. Whether you’re lounging around or hiking all over the area, you may not realize that this Lodge is green and almost entirely self-sustainable with solar panels and grey-water systems on almost all of the buildings.

If your interest is bird watching, this is just the perfect place. Besides that it is just impressive for the pristine Amazon jungle, with Brazil nut trees with more than 50m, macaws every day, and a fantastic staff, including the owner that welcomes every guest. To get to the lodge you will fly to Alta Floresta city and stay overnight in their sister hotel. The transfer to the lodge is done the following day both in a jeep and boat trip. The Cristalino Jungle Lodge is located in the Southern tip of Amazon forest, hideaway for fantastic nature.

The Cristalino Jungle Lodge is committed to helping visitors have a wonderful experience in the forest while learning about the environment and its importance for our daily lives. The guides are passionate nature lovers who will share their knowledge and respect for the environment. They know the species names in English, their sounds and where to find them.

The lodge was built in harmony with the surrounding forest and with respect for the region. It offers eco-friendly bungalows and adheres to sustainable practices in the solar heating, gray-water treatment system, black-water treatment system and in the roof design with air-escapes to maintain a cooler temperature.

The limited number of rooms ensures that guests will have personalized attention and a unique experience. The rooms were built in order to promote a close contact in between the visitors and the surroundings. They have been designed to offer both comfort and a pleasant stay.

The lodge has three levels of accommodation: Private Bungalows, Superior Rooms and Standard Rooms. Superior room is definitely worth the extra cost; more comfortable, with a nice terrace with hammock and an outdoor cold water shower.

Service is about as high a standard as you can get in an area that far from civilization. Food and facilities is top notch. All meals are served buffet style, in the dining room which keeps with the ethos of the lodge, all natural wood. The food which is included in the price is fantastic (drinks are extra). The staff at the lodge to be very friendly and efficient.

There is also a very nice floating dock with loungers and umbrellas and the river is great for swimming and sunbath in the afternoon.

There is only electricity from noon-3:00pm and 6:00pm-10:00pm so it is a good idea to bring flashlights (although there are candles in the rooms). The lights-out at 10:00pm and this is fine since guests are up at 5:30am.

You will see a lot of wildlife besides of birds; giant otters, caimans, anacondas, spiders on the night walk, monkeys and capybaras. The activities include canopy towers, tree houses to observe nocturnal animals, trails, mountains, bird watching, river trips, night trips, canoes,, kayaking, floating down the river in the inflatable kayak , star gazing, river swimming and relaxing.

ECOTOURISM

These programs are designed for nature lovers seeking a memorable experience in the Amazon. Participants will learn about the wildlife in general, mammals, trees, butterflies, reptiles and flowers — and its importance to the equilibrium of nature.

BUTTERFLY OBSERVATION

These programs are focused on observing the vast number of butterflies and skippers that inhabit this region.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Cristalino Lodge is an ideal place for photographers who wish to capture the hidden secrets of th AmazonForest.

FAMILY TRIPS

An ideal program for families who wish to share a great experience with an educational element with their children (the lodge recommends children above 9 years old).

The activities in each of these programs may include:

HIKING

The extensive trail system allows for wildlife observation according to the group’s needs and desires. The hikes take place on a variety of different habitats and trails.

CANOEING

The pristine Cristalino River is fabulous for canoe excursions

SWIMMING

The floating dock or the river rapids are safe, refreshing, and outstanding for bathing.

BUTTERFLIES

Watching butterflies during sunny hours is a highlight

BOAT TRIPS

Accompanied by guides for observation of wildlife on the riverbanks.

TREE HOUSE

A spot where mammals such as tapirs and peccaries feed on natural salty earth.

CANOPY TOWER

Hiking to and climbing the canopy tower at down or sunset for observing the forest landscape and canopy wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, macaws, and other birds from above the canopy is a must at Cristalino Lodge.
