Brazilian Pantanal - Floodlands
JAGUAR EXPERIENCE AT THE PANTANAL LOWLANDS - NORTH PANTANAL PHOTO-SAFARI (June to October)
The Pantanal is the world’s largest contiguous wetland area (actually an alluvial plain) located in the center of South America, spanning three countries, with around 168,000 km2 (60,000 sq. miles) being in Brazil. It’s a perfect ecological niche for a great number of birds, reptiles and other animals to the delight of wildlife lovers and photographers. The Transpantaneira Park Road, a raised dirt road 147 km (90 miles) in length from Poconé to Porto Jofre crossing 126 small wooden bridges, penetrates deep into the Pantanal ecosystem.
Both programs are similar except that first option stays at the Porto Jofre Hotel, which is more confortable and better located

Program B) One Night at Beira Rio Hotel, three nights at Jaguar Lodge and Three Nights at Araras Lodge
Day 1 CUIABÁ - PANTANAL LOWLANDS
- Arrival at Cuiabá/Várzea Grande airport or pick up at hotel and transfer to Pantanal lowlands.
- Safari Transfer to Poconé 111km on paved road and then on the Transpantaneira Park Road for additional 77km until the Pixaim River.
- Check in at MT Pantanal Htl. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 MT PANTANAL HOTEL - PORTO JOFRE HOTEL/JAGUAR LODGE
- After an early breakfast morning 1 hs Pixaim river safari, good chances for giant river otter, black colored hawk plunging close to you to catch some piranha and other wild life.
- Than on the road further South until the very end of the park road on border of the Cuiabá river.
- Lunch and check in at Porto Jofre Hotel.
- PM: 3:00pm star your river safari "appetizer", in search of the jaguar until 06:00Pm
- Dinner and night at HPJ.
Day 3 PANTANAL LOWLANDS – PORTO JOFRE/JAGUAR LODGE
- After breakfast full day boa trip (8hs) on the Cuiaba River in search of the Jaguar return to the hotel, dinner and overnight. . (B, L, D).
Day 4 PANTANAL LOWLANDS – PORTO JOFRE /JAGUAR LODGE
- After breakfast full day boa trip (8hs) on the Cuiaba River in search of the Jaguar return to the hotel, dinner and overnight. . (B, L, D).
Day 5 PANTANAL LOWLANDS - ARARAS LODGE
- After breakfast., last morning river safari(06:00Am to 10:00Am).Check Out and lunch at HPJ.
- Photo safari along the Transpantaneira back North until Araras Ecolodge, arrive late afternoon. Welcome drink and Check in;
- Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 PANTANAL>ARARAS ECO LODGE
- Explore Araras surroundings which offers chances for different encounters with Pantanal wild life, as there is a much drier region far from the river boarder. Abundant bird life and good chances for armadillos, ant eaters, marsh deers, tapir, puma and ocelots.
- After dinner 4 hs night drive in search of nocturnal animals.
DAY 7 PANTANAL – ARARAS LODGE
- Explore Araras surroundings which offers chances for different encounters with Pantanal wild life, as there is a much drier region far from the river boarder. Abundant bird life and good chances for armadillos, ant eaters, marsh deers, tapir, puma and ocelots.
- After dinner 4 hs night drive in search of nocturnal animals.
DAY 08 PANTANAL - AIRPORT
- Breakfast and departure at 7h30 to Cuiabá with stops along the Transpantaneira park road for photos and a last glimpse of this unique ecosystem.
- Arrival at Várzea Grande / Cuiabá Airport at 11h00. (C, , )

Mato Grosso Beira Rio Hotel

Hotel Mato Grosso, the lodge is easily reached by car year-round using the Transpantaneira Park Road, 52 km (82 mi). A ride on this scenic road is a delight and transfers using air-conditioned vehicles are always an exciting photo-safari.
Lodge: 33 air-conditioned apartments with TV and frigobar, hot and cold shower.
ARARAS PANTANAL ECO LODGE

Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge (www.araraslodge.com.br) (16°30’42,3 South, 56°42’,4” West) is at the heart of a unique place – the Pantanal Flood Plain, South of Cuiabá - capital of the state of Mato Grosso. Built in harmony with the environment, without skimping on comfort, the lodge is easily reached by car year-round using the Transpantaneira Park Road, 132 km (82 mi). A ride on this scenic road is a delight and transfers using air-conditioned vehicles are always an exciting photo-safari.
Lodge: accommodation for 42 guests in double, triple and quadruple rooms, with ceiling fan, air-conditioning, hot and cold shower. A comfortable veranda with hammocks, bar, internet access, swimming pool, restaurant and 3 on site observation towers.
From the lodge and untouched surroundings, first-class bird-watching, trekking in pristine forest, canoeing, horseback ride, photo-safari on trucks, night tours. There are three fantastic Observation Towers close to the lodge: Mirante da Garça/Heron’s Lookout, 12 m / 39.5 ft. high and 200 m / 656 ft.; Torre dos Macacos / Monkeys’ Tower – 25 m / 82 ft. high and 800 m / 0.497 mi., and Torre dos Tuiuiús / Jabiru Storks’ Tower – 13.5 m / 44 ft. high and 2.5 km / 1.55 mi., from the top of these towers a superb view. All activities are under the assistance of expert bilingual naturalist guides.
Meals are prepared with organic produce direct from our orchard or nearby suppliers. Dishes are a sampler of the simple homemade farm cooking and lunch and dinner buffets include salads, vegetables meat and delicious fish.
HOTEL PORTO JOFRE

HOTEL PORTO JOFRE is located in one of the most fascinating regions of the Pantanal, 245 km from Cuiabá, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso, and 145 km from the municipality of Poconé.
Arriving in Cuiabá, continue your journey on road number BR-070 (100 km of paved road) until you get to the municipality of Poconé. Continue your journey via the Trans-Pantanal Highway (145 km of unpaved track) crossing 120 wooden bridges and two of concrete, until you get to the HOTEL PORTO JOFRE.
During the dry season in the months from July to October it is possible to observe animals along the route including many caiman, capybara, many species of bird such as jabiru stork, macaws, egrets, spoonbills, cardinals, not to mention jaguars, rheas and deer. The journey covers 245 km and takes about four hours in the dry season but perhaps longer in the wet season depending upon the state of the road.

THE JAGUAR LODGE

The Jaguar Ecological Reserve Lodge is not a luxury hotel – We are proud to offer a comfortable lodge in a remote yet accessible setting. We are surrounded by some of the Pantanal’s finest wildlife habitat. We offer 9 guest rooms, with a total of 18 single beds. Each room is fully furnished and has a private bath, mosquito nets, fan, and porch with hammocks. We use a generator and solar panels for electricity. Hot water is available daily.
Guests enjoy family-style dining. Breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as afternoon tea are included. We specialize in local dishes prepared from local ingredients. Fresh fruits and vegetables from our gardens, fish caught in nearby rivers and streams, and beef and poultry from our ranch provide the basis for delicious meals. We also offer a selection of ice-cold Brazilian beer, soft-drinks and bottled water. Imported wines from Chile and Argentina and assorted cocktails are available. Our specialty is the Brazilian caipirinha – a blend of sugarcane rum, fresh limes, sugar and crushed ice that is the perfect treat after a day of exploring!
