The Amazon Rainforest Adventure Station

The Amazon Rainforest Adventure Station was inaugurated in 1982 and is the pioneer for sustainable tourism development in the Brazilian Biomes of the Amazon Rainforest. Situated within the Nature Safaris Private Biological Reserve ( 1000 ha of untouched primary Rainforest ) and protected since 1984, it is the best spot for a visit to the Rainforest around the Manaus area.
The Amazon Rainforest Adventure Station is located some only 4 hours away (80 km or 50 miles ) from Manaus, Southbank of the Amazon River,on the Parana do Mamori River system, upstream Rio Juma.

Facilities
Reception and Bar - with comfortable sofas, hammocks and chairs, perfect for relaxing before and after excursions, or a chat with new friends accompanied by a local drink.
Roof top restaurant - typical architecture - rustic and all mosquito screened with a great atmosphere for experimenting delicious local cuisine.
Recreation Area - large sun deck, where you can swim, sun bath, read and relax with nature.

   

Conditions

Important Notes about the lodge

  • The lodge has a generator with 110V energy available for a few hours at night only.
    Alternative sources of energy are also being used.
  • No hot water is available (water temperature is usually 26-32 degrees Celsius, all the year around).
  • The lights for the rooms, as well as the recreation area are supplied by alternative 12 V battery light.
  • For safety procedures, maximum luggage allowance on boat is 5 kg (11 lb.) per person and main luggage can be stored in our office in Manaus which has appropriate storing facilities.
  • No guarantee of air conditioning on any of the transports, not even the vans.
  • Mosquitoes - because of the waters high acidity (pH 3.9), mosquitoes and viruses, which cause cholera, dengue, malaria and yellow fever, do not proliferate in the area.

Armadillo; Agouti; Howler Monkey; Saky Monkey; Squirrel Monkey; Osselott; Ant Eater; "Paca"; Iguana; Oppossus; Anaconda; Boa; Bush Master; Coral; Tapir; Pecary; Cayman; Fresh Water Dolphin ; Otter ; Caty ; Tree Top Sloth ; Jaguar ; Deer ; "Capivara"; Red Bumped Agouti; Manaty; more than 100 species of fish & more than 40 species of birds. In the Amazon Rainforest , 90% of all of the wildlife have nocturnal habits .
