Rio
Mutum Lodge
Located on the Northern
region of Pantanal, which can be reached
via flights in and out of Cuiabá,
the Pousada Rio Mutum offers its guests
one of the best infrastructure for ecotourism
and fishing in the region.
The hotel features
10 apartments all with private bath,
air conditioning, fan and individual
veranda. Each apartment can comfortably
accommodate up to four guests.
The transfer from
Cuiabá to the lodge is made on
a paved road to the city of Barão
de Melgaço (85 miles), and from
there depending on the time of the year,
a 4x4 vehicle, or vehicle and boat combination
might be used to reach the lodge.
The transfer
takes approximately 3 hours and that
itself is a great opportunity to observe
the abundant Pantanal wildlife and flora.

What
to bring on your trip:
Sports clothes; two pairs of tennis shoes or boots;
jeans; light sleeved shirts; swimming suit; liquid,
paste or cream repellent; binoculars; sun glasses;
if wanted, rain coat and lantern; jackets and pullovers

Bird
Watcher Program - 5
days / 4 nights
1 st. Day Reception and assistance upon
your arrival at Cuiaba Airport.Transfer by van to
the Pousada Rio Mutum, passing through the small
village Mimoso, where Candido Rondon was born.
Arrival at the Pousada at dinner time. After dinner
the familiarize with the pousada as well as the
program for the next days.
2 nd. Day
The visit will be made by motorboat and will take
about 5 hours. This colony is considered an almost
sacred place inhabited from April to October by
a great number of species of birds, like herons,
storks, cormorants. Piranha fishing is also available
here. Return and lunch at the Pousada.
Late in the afternoon, a boat-tour will take you
to the beautiful Sià Mariana lake, where we will
watch the sunset and observe herons and other bird
species aiming at their sleeping trees.
After dark observation of crocodiles and other
night-active animals by means of searchlight.
3 rd. Day
After breakfast we will take an ecological hiking
tour through the Pantanal wilderness visiting some
settlements of the native caboclos with their palm
thatched huts. People hospitality will provide you
with a lot of impressions of their lives together
with a very stimulating drink of genuine guarana.
Return to the pousada for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will go horseback riding
near the pousada. Dinner and overnight
4 th. Day
After breakfast you can go to a motorboat fishing
trip, or boat trip to the small community of native
fishermen at Cuiaba Mirim, located on the banks
of the Cuiabá River.
Afternoon free at leisure.
Dinner and overnight rest.
5 th. Day
After breakfast transfer back to Cuiabá Airport.

(ca 200 km). Accommodation at a comfortable hotel
there. Lunch is served at a typical restaurant of
the region with a splendid panoramic view of the
whole area. Afterwards visit of waterfalls and natural
caverns. City tour. Dinner and overnight stay.
5 th. Day
After breakfast return to Cuiaba Airport and departure.
